Georgii UVS is an artist based in London.
He began painting at the age of 17 and has two professional degrees in geology and art.
Georgii UVS’s art is an attempt of artistic analysis and reproduction through abstract expressionism depicting the interaction of notions such as, geophysics and psychoanalysis. His art can therefore be seen through people's perception of the material and psychological worlds and their desire to understand the universe through increasing self-awareness.
Each work is unique and cannot be reproduced, even by the author himself. This is the result of an inimitable artistic act, characteristic of great abstractionists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and William de Kooning…
UVS’s works of art are not intended to display objects or specific feelings, they urge viewers to delve into themselves and reach deep within the subconscious, uncovering primitive sensations and revealing the collective sense of the archetypal visual language. Georgii’s spontaneous painting therefore illustrates a powerful myriad of raw emotion and behavior that possessed his body and soul during the act of creating.
His art and technique are not fleeting but rather eternal; his paintings are created under momentary conditions of heat, light, and gravity, but the final piece takes months, even years to complete. This process lays in stark opposition to today’s culture of mass production and consumption. In order to create his original oeuvres, UVS draws inspiration from old mentors and utilizes ultraviolet pigment which comes to play a central role in many of his canvas’s, just as the Sun, a natural source of ultraviolet radiation and life, does in our solar system.
